Some people ask why you need hosting for a website and it comes down to control. You are able to manage your server and your site can’t just be pulled offline if a CMS wants to do so. But there are some really great services like wordpress.com and squarespace (although you can’t use the Houzez theme with Squarespace).
Get Hosting
Sign up for hosting and install WordPress. The steps are super easy to follow once you choose your plan.
You can use Hostgator or Hostinger. I use both.
Install WordPress
Installing WordPress is easy. Just follow the set up wizard.
Once you’re done, go to the admin panel or the WordPress dashboard. We’re installing the Houzez theme next!
Install Houzez Theme
Go to the Houzez theme website to get the theme.
It’s a one time charge to get all the future updates and access all the premium elements.
You also get access to all the designs and premium plugins like the slider revolution!
Once you download the zip files and the purchase code
- Go to the wordpress dashboard
- Hover over appearance
- Click on themes
- Click on add new
- Click to upload the theme
- Click to upload the zip file for the Houzez theme
Select the Demo Template
To get a real estate website up and running quickly with WordPress and the Houzez theme, once we install the theme files…
- Go back to the WordPress Dashboard
- Hover over Houzez
- Click on Demo Import at the bottom of the pop up
- Here is where you can go through the demo templates and preview them
- Click import on the real estate website you want to import
- Now you should have a real estate website with wordpress and the houzez theme up and running!

Create Real Estate Agencies
Before we start creating the real estate website and customize it using the Houzez theme, I do want to say that the easiest way is probably to follow the video tutorial since there’s a lot to discuss!
To make agencies
- Go to the WordPress dashboard
- Hover over Real Estate
- Click on Agency
- Click on Add New button on the top
- Add the title
- Add the description
- The details about the agency
- Add a logo and featured image
- Click publish
Create Real Estate Agents
To make real estate agents
- Go to the WordPress dashboard
- Hover over Real Estate
- Click on Agents
- Click on Add New button on the top
- Add the Name
- Add the description
- The contact information for the real estate agent
- Add a logo and featured image
- Click publish
Create Properties
Now that we have real estate agencies and agents set up. We can make properties so we can link them to the agents and real estate agencies.
To make real estate properties
- Go to the WordPress dashboard
- Hover over Real Estate
- Click on New Property
- Click on Add New button on the top
- Add the property information
- Add the description
- On the left side bar you can go into the tabs to add more details
- The media tab is where you can add gallery images
- On the right side bar you can select the real estate agency and agent you want to link to the property
- Add a logo and featured image
- Click publish
Using Elementor to Edit Pages
Now that we know how to create agencies, real estate agents, and real estate properties…all we really need to do is learn how to use the elementor page builder for WordPress!
To turn on the elementor page builder you can go to any page while you are logged into WordPress and click the edit with elementor button
- Or go to the WordPress dashboard
- Hover over pages
- Click on the page you want to edit
- And then click to turn on the elementor page builder
This is how you can create and customize your entire real estate website with wordpress.
- You can click to edit sections by clicking on the three dots
- You’ll see tabs on the left (layout, style, advance)…
- Edit options and settings there
- Drag in modules if you want to add new sections or elements
- You can right click to delete things

Theme Options for Houzez Theme
To edit the header and the footer, you can go to the WordPress dashboard and hover over theme options
- You can see all the options you have here to change the formatting and style for your real estate website.
- There is a header and footer tab that you can click on
- Customize and choose your style options here
- Click save when you’re done!
- You can also change the page layouts if you go through the tabs and check them out
