This is how you make a Test Order for Your Shopify Website
To place a test order with Shopify to see if your website is working, you want to use an email address that ends with @example.com
Using the email that ends like the above, signals to Shopify that it is a test transaction so it won’t trigger any spam detection and will keep your inbox from being full.
Do the following:
- From your Shopify admin dashboard go to Settings and click on Payments.
- If you have a credit card payment provider activated, deactivate it before continuing.
Click Manage > Deactivate, then confirm your deactivation. - Deactivate the third party payment provider if activated and if you re using the Shopify Pament then click Manage > Manage payment methods
- At the bottom of the page, click switch to third party provider and then click switch to third party provider again to confirm.
- If you don’t have Shopify payments activated, click to see all other providers
- If Shopify payment is not available in your country, in the payment provider section, click choose a provider.
- Select the testing Gateway from the list
- Activate the testing Gateway
- Click Save
Go to your online store and place an order as a customer
For checkout you can add the following for a test transaction
- Name on card: Bogus Gateway
- Credit Card number: 1 for approved transaction, 2 for declined transaction, 3 for gateway failure
- CVV: Enter any 3 digit number
- Expiry Date: Enter any date in the future
After the testing is done, click Manage next to the Gateway link in the dashboard for Shopify
Click Deactivate Gateway to remove this gateway from your checkout.
