If you have the shopkeeper theme already and have a wordpress website already set up to make an ecommerce website, then you can skip the first part of this text tutorial that walks through installing wordpress.

- To install wordpress, you should get a hosting plan that works for you.
- The premium plan is normally all you need but you can decide what’s best for you.

- Once you get your hosting, click to install WordPress.
- We do not need a special theme right now since we are going to get the shopkeeper theme.
- So you can choose the current year theme (2025)
- You can skip installing the plugins also
- If you have the option to register a domain, go ahead and do that.
- Then click to install wordpress.
Install Shopkeeper Theme For Ecommerce
To get one of the best ecommerce themes for wordpress in 2025, go to the themeforest website also called the envato marketplace and get the shopkeeper theme.
- To install the theme you can go to the wordpress dashboard
- Hover over themes
- Click on add new
- And then click on the upload button and go to the theme folder and upload the shopkeeper.zip file
- Then install it
- You may be asked to confirm your email to access the theme templates and plugins/kits
- Go to your inbox to do that to use the shopkeeper theme if you need to
- Otherwise the purchase code can be accessed by downloading the purchase code in the themeforest dashboard if you log in and go to your downloads folder
Choose Your Ecommerce Website Template
Now that you have the shopkeeper theme, you can go to the shopkeeper tab and choose the website template that you want to use to make the ecommerce website.
Once you install everything, you can move on to the next step.
Connect Woocommerce to Online Store with WordPress
You want to make sure you connect the wordpress website with the woocommerce plugin. To do this, you can hover over woocommerce and pick on settings.
Once you are on the settings, you can go through the tabs and connect everything.

Shopkeeper Theme Settings for Website
To customize the theme settings for the website you can hover over shopkeeper and click on customize
Here are all the tabs to change and modify your theme settings. This includes the layout options and the footer.
- Go through these to change the colors in the style tab and the typography.
- You can update the copyright by going in to the footer tab
- The header will have a drop down for you to choose the layout you want to use for the e-commerce website.
- You can also update the logo here.
Edit Webpages for Ecommerce Website WP
The best way to use the shopkeeper theme is to use it. To do that you can go to the homepage and click on edit with elementor.
The elementor pagebuilder is what you will use to edit your website.
You can click into each section to customize it.
If you need to see the structure of your ecommerce website you can click on the icon on the upper left to get that pop up.
- Then go into each section and expand them to see how the website is made.
- For the shopkeeper theme, it’s really about knowing how to use the elementor plugin.
- The background images are usually at the top level (sections/rows). You can edit them in the style tab.
- The spacing can be updated in the advance tabs.
- You can hide sections for different devices in the advance tab if you click on the responsive section and expand it.
- To make your ecommerce website responsive, you want to hide sections that do not look good on specific devices and then duplicate or remake the section with the right spacing for the particular device.
Product Sections for Ecommerce Website
If you want to edit the product sections for the shopkeeper theme and the ecommerce website that you are making, you can click into the blocks.
There will be different options.
- For the website we design in the video tutorial, there are tabs, which can be edited using the theme builder for shopkeeper.
- The video shows best how to use it but if you hover over elementor on the dashboard, and click on theme you will see the builder with the tabs.
- At the bottom of this page, you can scroll down and view the page in the normal way and it will show the short codes that you can add to the tab carousel to populate the tabs and items you want to see.
Create Products for Online Store
In order to make products with the ecommerce website, you can back into how they are made if you go to the product page.
- Hover over products > all products
To create a new product
- Title it
- Long description is the large box
- Then go into the product data section and select the type of product you want to make
- Add the price and other details in the tabs
- Add the short description
- Then add the featured image and image gallery images
- Add the category name and tags if you want
- You can expand the catalog visibility if you want to make this product a featured product
- Click on save/publish once you are done.
To create a variable product
- To create a variable product for the ecommerce website, just follow the steps above
- The only difference is that you will go into the product data section and select variable product
- Then you will go into the attribute section and add the variable and the options
- Then go to variations and generate the variations so you can add the prices, images and other details (just like a single product)
- Click on save
- That’s the main difference for a variable product with woocommerce
To create an affiliate product
The same steps will apply as the others, except you will select an affiliate product in the product data section and add the affiliate URL
To create a virtual or downloadable product
The same steps again apply but you have the check boxes to change the product from a physical product to a variable product.
Edit Menus for Header and Footer of the Ecommerce Website
With the shopkeeper theme and for wordpress in general, to edit the header and the footer menus and any sidebar widgets, you can do the following.
- Go to the wordpress dashboard
- Hover over appearance click on menus or widgets
- On the menus page, you may see some menus already created depending on the template you are using
- You can delete any of these menus for the online store or you can edit them
- You can also create new menus by clicking on create new menu
For the sidebars and widgets of the e-commerce website
- You can go to the widgets page and add whatever elements and blocks you want to the areas that are given
- You can delete them and expand them to edit them also
- I would suggest this for the shop pagers if you are going to have a sidebar on the ecommerce website to have filters for prices and catetoriies or any of the products you choose to sell
- The shopkeeper theme may also have some additional elements you can use
