This is a text tutorial to compliment a video we recently made on how to use wordpress to make an ecommerce website and online store with the Woodmart theme 2025. In this text and the video tutorial we will show you how to use woodmart theme.

If you need to set up wordpress and install it so you can use the Woodmart theme you can use the steps below.

If you just want to learn how to use the Woodmart theme then you can skip the part where we install wordpress 🙂

Installing WordPress with Hostsing

The first thing you want to do is set up wordpress so you can use the woodmart theme to make an e-commerce website. To do that, we recommend going to hostinger to get hosting. You can use this link to go to the hostinger website.

There are different plans that you can choose from. We normally just use the premium plan since it gives us what we need, but you can select the plan that is best for you.

The reason why we recommend hostinger:

Cheap
Good customer service
No issues
Easy to use
Better than many of the other companies that offer hosting

Why do you need hosting?

Hosting lets you run your website
You do not have to risk having it shut down given the terms of other managed plaforms
You have full control of your website

To set up wordpress

Just go through the set up process. For the video these are the steps
Select to install wordpress
Choose to select the 2025 theme (we are going to get the woodmart theme so we don’t need to choose one of the themes recommended)
Skip the step to add plugins (woodmart theme will recommend the plugins we need)
Register a domain if you have the option to register one for free (we use a temporary domain for this video tutorial)
Select to install and just wait for WordPress to install!

Install The Woodmart theme

If you do not have the woodmart theme, you can get it at the themeforest website. You can use this link to go to get the woodmart theme which I currently think may be the best theme for wordpress websites in 2025 given how it integrates the Gutenberg pagebuilder.

To install the theme, you can follow the steps below

Go to the wordpress dashboard
Hover over appearance
Click on add new theme
Click in the upload button on the upper left
Click to upload the theme
Go to the download folder that you downloaded the zip file
Install the woodmart.zip file
You may need to unzip the file/folder that you downloaded from the themeforest website
Make sure you click to activate the theme after it is uploaded and installed

Now that you have the theme, we can go through the set up process that you may see on the page

The first thing you want to do is add the purchase code for the woodmart theme so that you can access the plugins and the features from the woodmart theme for the ecommerce website

You can download the purchase code from the downloads folder in your themeforest website

After you active the theme with the purchase code

You can choose the template that you want to use for the ecommerce website that you want to make with wordpress
We are using the Shoe layout in the video tutorial but you can choose any of the templates
Then you want to install the plugins for the website you are creating
Once you install the plugins you can import the content and wait for everything to get installed

General Settings

This is an overview of the general settings for WordPress. You may not need this if you already know how to use wordpress but just incase…

If you want to change the site title or the email address associated with your wordpress website or online store you can do so by doing the following

Go to the wordpress dashboard
Hover over settings
Click on general to update the site title and email address
Click on save when you are done

Set up Woocommerce

Woocommerce is the plugin that runs the e-commerce website. It allows for transactions and can take payment order information. It also allows you to create your products and have the shop page.

The woocommerce plugin should already be installed from when we set up the website with the layout.

To go to the woocommerce settings you can hover over woocommerce and click on settings

We go through all the tabs that you see on the woocommerce page in the video

General tab – put in your business information

Products tab – you do not need to do anything here unless you want to change the weight and dimension units

Shipping – you can set up shipping zones to add whatever rates you want for shipping

Payments – for payments, we go and install the woocommerce PayPal plugin and set that up. You can do the same if you want

Accounts and Privacy – here you can just change your settings if you want and you should note that there is a privacy policy page link in the registration and check out page that you can update the page for.

Emails – the only thing you really need to do (if you want) is update the custom layout options for the emails that are sent. Just scroll down below the email section and you’ll see this.

Integration – nothing to do here

Site visibility – only necessary if you want a landing page or if you want to make the site live (it currently has a landing page by default)

Advanced – Here you can add a terms and conditions page

Make sure you click see on each of these tabs if you make any changes

For the payment tab, after we install the PayPal plugin for woocommerce, we connect it.

Then we go to the standard payments tab and enable it and change where the buttons show up.
We also change the colors.
For the pay later and the advance card processing tabs, we disable them. You can enable them and modify the settings if you want.

Theme Settings

Before we go to the pagebuilder and customize and make the online store, the first thing we do is go over the theme settings.

The theme settings are the default settings for the ecommerce website. They are the colors, the fonts, the spacing, and the default layout options, including the header and the footer.

To go to the theme settings you can go to the left hand side of the dashboard and you should see theme settings.
You can also access the theme settings by going to the woodmart tab and hovering over it and you should see the theme settings there

You should spend more time in this area to customize the settings if you want. Just know that the theme settings are set for the layout that you chose.

You can always change the template you are using if you go into the theme settings and at the top, click on the prebuilt website button.

Here you can see all the lay out options again for the online store and you can add a different layout.

General – this is where you can select the header options and also enable or disable the promo pop up
Typography – you can change the font styles here
Styles & Colors – you can edit the default colors here
Product pages and archives – you can edit the layout settings for the product pages
Footer – you can customize how the footer looks and the copyright

There are a bunch of other tabs that you can go through. If you want to change anything, you can explore the tabs further on your own here.

** You should also notice the HTML Blocks button at the top of the page and also on the left hand side of the side bar

HTML blocks are premade sections that you can use for the header, the footer, and the additional tabs for the product page.
You can explore them by clicking on the html blocks for the woodmart theme and checking out how they are made.
You can also make your own html blocks if you want by clicking on the html block tab and adding a new one yourself.

Editing the Ecommerce Website with Woodpress

This is where we learn how to use the woodmart theme.

In order to go to the pagebuilder, you can go to your pages list and do the following

Go to the WordPress dashboard
Hover over pages
Click on all pages
Click to edit the home page (if should be set as the front page in bold)

Once you are on the edit page, this is the page builder (gutenberg)

To explore it, it’s easiest to check out the video.

Left side of the top area

At the top are buttons (from right to left)

The + button lets you add a new block or element for the ecommerce website

The arrows are for undo and redo for steps you may have done for the website

The next icon with the lines is the structure of the page (if you click on it, you can see the rows and containers and all the elements)

Right side of the top area

On the other side are some icons

The first icon lets you see what the website looks like on different devices including the desktop, tablet and the mobile device
This icon is helpful in allowing you to make sure your website is responsive and looks good on all the different devices so your users can see what they came for
The icon next to this is to preview the website so it will open up a new tab with your website
The icon next to that will show the right sidebar which is important because it will allow you to change the block settings for all the different elements that are on your website

The block settings usually have a few tabs inside this area, they are used to change the styling, the spacing, the color and other settings for that specific part of the website which you are editing.

If you want to hide or unhide the left side bar for the wordpress options from the dashboard, you can click on the three dots on the far right of the top and you can change the view from full screen to not.

Now that we have all of that covered, let’s discuss how to actually make and edit the ecommerce website using the gutenberg pagebuilder

Adding/Editing Background

To edit any section, the first thing that I like to do with the gutenberg pagebuilder and the woodmart theme is click on the icon on the left side so that we can see the structure of the website

This allows us to see whether we are working with a specific element, a row, a container and so forth.

You can expand the section for anything that has elements within elements, such as the first section, which is normally a row or container and then it has a slider and inside the slider it has text boxes and buttons and other modules/blocks.

To edit the spacing for the entire section, you can normally click on the top item for the section.

Once you click on that block, you can go to the left side where you have the block sidebar to edit the layout options
Sometimes the background image is added here in the background tab (go to the style tab to see).

Other times it’s added in a specific block like one of the slider elements so that each element has its own background image, which is the slider image (I hope that makes sense).

Once you change the background image which you can do by clicking on the upload button

You can edit all the different sections for the slider
If you look on the left hand side you can see the modules
Click through them
Edit the texts
Edit the buttons
You can change the colors for the normal and the hover
You can even change the button shapes and sizes (these can also be changed for the default settings in the theme settings)

You can go through all the different sections and edit them

Just click into the structure of the website and then expand each section to see how the section is made and what blocks it consist of from the Woodmart theme

In order to save your changes, make sure you click on the save button on the upper right.

** This is how you edit the entire website. You can also edit and create HTML blocks this way.

Add New Sections

To add new sections to the existing ones, you can click on the edge or the bottom of the section and you will see a plus button.

Click the + button
Then you can browse all the modules on the pop up or click the bottom to expand it
If you expand the pop up then you will see more options on the left hand side that you can add
Click to add which ever block you want
Then you can edit it the same way as the existing ones.

Add Products

For any e-commerce website, you probably want to know how to add products. So let’s make sure we do that in this section with the woodmart theme, shall we?

To create new products or modify existing ones you can do the following.

Go back to the wordpress dashboard
Hover over products
Click on add new to make a new product
You can title the product
The first box is for the long description for the ecommerce product
For the woodmart theme, the designers use the gutenberg pagebuilder to edit the long description section
For the product data section, you can select if this is a single product or any other type of product
For a single product, you can just put in the price information and details from the other tabs
For a variable product, you can go to the attributes and you can add the variable and the options
Then go to the variations tab and add the different prices and images and other details for the products
At the bottom of the page is the short description section for the ecommerce product. You can add that here.

** For the ecommerce products you can also select to add a virtual or downloadable product

On the right hand side of the ecommerce website with the woodmart theme, you can add the images you want, the categories and the tags. Update as you please.
Click on the publish/save button when you make your changes.

That’s all you have to do to create a product.

Save Variables and Customize Variables

If you want to save variables and customize them –

Hover over the products tab on the WordPress dashboard
Click on attributes
You can add your variables here
Then you can select how they appear
After you add the attributes (variables) you can select the terms you want for the variable options
After the terms are added, you can scroll down or edit each to add the image or the color that is associated with them.
After you add the variables you want to save, you can add them to your products whenever you create a new product. All you have to do is go into the product data section and select variable
Go to the attributes tab
You will see the drop down option for selecting the variable you want to add
Then click to select all or select specific variables you want to add
Then you can go to the variation tab and add the different variations/prices and so forth.

Adding Tabs To Product Page

At the bottom of the product page, you will see page settings.

If you go to the layout tab, you can add a custom HTML block below or after the content section if you wish.
If you want to add a tab like the about brand or another tab, then you can go to the tab link and add the name of the first tab then select the HTML block you want for that tab.
Then you can click on tab two and add another label and select another HTML block that you can pre-make or customize and select to add to the ecommerce website with the woodmart theme.

Edit Menus

The menus can be accessed by going to the wordpress dashboard

Hover over appearance
Click on menus
For the menus, you can edit the existing ones or delete them and add your own.
You can add new page links, create page links, or any of the other options.

Click save at the bottom once you make your changes.

And That’s All There Is!

This is all there really is to using the Woodmart theme for WordPress. It’s really easy and you just need to understand how to use gutenberg and learn a few of the premium functions and features that come with the Woodmart theme in order to use the theme itself for the ecommerce website that you are learning how to make.

All it really takes to learn how to use the Woodmart theme for WordPress (as of the writing of this in 2025) is understanding how to navigate around the pagebuilder and understanding some of the theme features.

There’s a lot you can do with the woodmart theme, so play around with it as you learn how to make your online store with wordpress and try out a lot of the premium blocks and modules that come with the theme.
